Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the Terms) are a binding agreement between you and ET-FOREX (“ET-Forex”, “we”, “us”) covering the website, the ET-Forex mobile app, and the developer API (together, the Services).

By using the Services you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Services. If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

ET-Forex is an information service. We collect exchange rates published by Ethiopian banks, normalise them, and present them for comparison alongside historical charts and a converter.

ET-Forex is not a bank, a money transfer operator, a foreign exchange bureau, or a licensed financial institution. We do not buy, sell, hold, or transmit currency, and we are not party to any transaction you enter into with a bank.

Banks change rates without notice, apply different rates to different channels and amounts, and may add fees or spreads that are not reflected here. Always confirm directly with the bank before acting on anything you read on the Services.

Nothing on the Services is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to transact with any particular bank. Decisions you make using this information are yours alone.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. Browsing rates does not require an account; some app features do.

• Give accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
• Keep your sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

API access is granted by key. Each key is issued to one account and must not be shared, resold, or embedded in a public client where it can be extracted.

• Rate limits— every key carries a request quota. Exceeding it returns throttling responses; sustained abuse may result in suspension.
• Attribution— applications that display ET-Forex data must credit ET-Forex as the source in a place users can see.
• No wholesale redistribution— you may use the data in your product; you may not republish the feed itself, or build a service whose main purpose is redistributing our data.
• Changes— endpoints and response shapes may change. We will give reasonable notice of breaking changes to active key holders.

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the Services outside the documented API, or circumvent rate limits, keys, or other access controls.
• Interfere with the Services or the infrastructure behind them, including denial-of-service attempts and probing for vulnerabilities without written permission.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Services, except where that restriction is unenforceable by law.
• Misrepresent ET-Forex data as your own, alter rates while still attributing them to us, or imply an endorsement or partnership that does not exist.
• Use the Services to break the law, infringe rights, or facilitate fraud.

The ET-Forex name, logo, interface, software, and the compilation and presentation of rate data are owned by ET-Forex and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services as described here, and nothing more.

Bank names, marks, and logos belong to their respective owners and are used to identify the source of a rate. Their appearance on the Services does not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, those banks.

We aim to keep the Services available but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may add, change, suspend, or withdraw features, endpoints, or the Services as a whole, with notice where practical. Scheduled maintenance, upstream source outages, and factors outside our control can all interrupt service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty as to the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of rate data.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law permits.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ET-Forex and its officers, employees, and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or connected to your use of the Services — including losses from acting on a rate that turned out to be inaccurate or out of date.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.

You agree to indemnify and hold ET-Forex harmless from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of anyone else’s rights.

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if your use threatens the security or stability of the Services, or if we are required to do so by law. The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and governing law survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and ET-Forex submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Before filing, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter directly.

We may revise these Terms as the Services evolve. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site — and by email to account holders — before they take effect. Continuing to use the Services after that date means you accept the revised Terms.
